Entering Data in EcoCAT

EcoCAT includes many different types of data entry fields for entering project and review information.  Some fields are optional text fields in which text can be entered or not.  However, some data fields are required, and text must be entered into them to continue.  Information that must be completed in EcoCAT is indicated with a red asterisk (*).

Selecting an Applicant

Enter the name of the applicant into the Applicant field. If this applicant has applied previously their name will appear to select from in a drop down list as soon as the user pauses typing for several seconds. The drop down will display the applicant name and address information to allow for proper selection. After the applicant is selected all existing contact information will fill into the rest of the form. If all required fields are now entered the user can click Next to continue.

Entering a New Applicant

If the applicant is not returned in the search results a new applicant may be added. A new applicant can be added by selecting the Add New Applicant radio button and then completing the fields below before clicking Next.

Required Project Fields

Required project fields have a red asterisk (*) beside them.

If text is not entered in these fields, the project will not be saved, and a message will appear stating which fields must be filled in before proceeding to the next page.

Data Field Validation

Additionally, some fields have special validation formats, like date fields, that must be followed in order to save the entries when proceeding to the next page.  If the format is not followed, a validation message will appear next to the field indicating that the entry must be corrected.

Entering Phone Numbers

Phone numbers should be entered in the format 000-000-0000, with dashes between the area code and the other numbers.

Entering Zip Codes

The zip code should be five digits, in the format 00000.  The zip extension should be entered in a separate zip extension field if one is present, and should be four digits, of the format 0000.
